My Dearest Belle,
You are six months old today! Half a year has already gone by since you made us a family of three… I know I ask this question with every passing month, but really… Where has the time gone?
This past month, you’ve tried carrots, cauliflower, butternut squash, peas, apples, broccoli, and sweet potatoes, and you devoured it all! A few days ago, I even gave you batons of banana, and while you still need to work on your hand-eye coordination a bit, you did so well eating with your hands! It’s a bit nerve-wracking to think about giving you non-pureed food, but you aced all other tasks and milestones to date…
You were born with a FULL set of beautiful, black hair. It had the starts of wispy curls at the ends, and we always knew that it would grow out curly. Now, it’s finally long enough for me to do this:
Papa says I shouldn’t do it too much - he’s afraid that the little ties will pull out your hair. But it’s so cute~~~
You’re also getting better at sitting unassisted. You still tend to topple over after a few seconds, but your core is definitely getting stronger! You’re also showing signs of crawling, too! You’ve learned to tuck your legs under, push up on your arms, and rock/bounce back and forth. Your arms aren’t strong enough to sustain your weight individually, so whenever you reach for a toy with one, you end up falling forward. However, getting to your desired destination has NOT been a problem for you:
You fill our home and hearts with laughter everyday - whether it’s your messy, post-meal face, your sweet and slightly crooked smile, or even the noises you make while you’re pooping… It’s all beautiful and sweet to Papa and me. I wish there was a way to capture and hold each and every moment with you, but these letters and the many, many, MANY photos and videos we have stored in our phones will have to do.
Love always,
Mama
